How You, As a Candidate, Use AI
At Wilmington, we realise that how each of us uses technology in our lives is changing all the time. We recognise that candidates may use AI tools to support their applications – and we’re fine with responsible use.
We encourage candidates to ensure that any AI-assisted content still reflects their authentic experiences, skills and voice. At Wilmington, acceptable and responsible uses of AI in the hiring process include:
· Helping to refine CVs, cover letters, or portfolios
· Supporting with interview preparation or to research our company and roles
· Assisting with accessibility or language translation needs
We ask candidates to avoid using AI for anything that may compromise the integrity of the hiring process. Examples include, but are not limited to:
· Submitting AI generated content that misrepresents your experience, qualifications or achievements
· Using AI to impersonate or simulate live interactions, such as video interviews or role play assessments
· Relying on AI to complete skills tests where we have specifically stated that candidates may not use AI tools.
If we suspect use of AI that undermines our core value of integrity, this may impact your application.
How We, When Hiring, Use AI
From the point of view of hiring, we’re committed to fairness, transparency and human-centred decision-making.
Whilst we too use AI tools to make work more efficient (in fact, we used AI to help us draft this statement!), we do not use AI tools alone to screen candidates or to make selection decisions. We review each application individually and decisions about whether an application is progressed to the next stage are based on suitability in comparison to the essential criteria required. This decision is made by a person, not by AI.
If you have any questions about use of AI in the recruitment process, please contact us at opportunities@wilmingtonplc.com or contact the Talent Acquisition Advisor handling your application.
After receiving your online application, our Talent Acquisition team will review it and may invite you to a brief telephone screening to discuss your background and the role. If you’re shortlisted, you will then be invited to an in-person or virtual interview which may include an assessment or presentation. The recruitment process can vary by role, but we will discuss the full process for your role with you.
This is an informal conversation where we tell you about the role and the Wilmington business that you’ve applied for. Of course, we’ll also be looking to hear more about you and your background to really bring your application to life. Take the chance to ask any questions you may have - This is your time so make the most of it!
Most roles are recruited on a rolling-basis, so will remain open until we offer the role. If the role has a closing date, it will be clearly displayed at the top of the job advert.
Of course! You’re welcome to apply online for any roles that you feel match your skills.
You can either let our Talent Acquisition team know or you can log into your candidate account and withdraw your application through the portal.
We want to make sure that nobody is at a disadvantage during our recruitment process. When you apply for a role with us, you can choose to share details of anything that you believe may affect your performance throughout the selection process. Everyone’s needs are different, so please email us at opportunities@wilmingtonplc.com and we will work with you to provide any support needed. We’re proud members of the Disability Confident scheme. Applicants who disclose a disability and meet the minimum role requirements will be guaranteed an interview under this scheme.
We don’t use AI for CV screening. Every application we receive is reviewed by our Talent Acquisition team in line with the role requirements. Any CVs shared with the hiring team are redacted to highlight only the skills and experience of the individual.
If you email us at opportunities@wilmingtonplc.com we can remove your details from our system. If you then wish to apply for a role in the future with us, you’ll need to re-create an applicant account and upload your CV.
