How Wilmington colleagues have supported charities in the last year

At Wilmington we’re proud of the work we do for a variety of charities. As a leading provider of information services and events for the charitable sector, our Wilmington Charities business supports charities in fundraising initiatives. And throughout Wilmington, our colleagues participate in many local, national and international initiatives.
For example, last Christmas, colleagues at Wilmington’s head office supported the Giving Tree, an initiative to support the Kids Out charity which gives disadvantaged children positive experiences to support them becoming future members of society. Christmas Jumper Day was celebrated in many Wilmington offices, including Basildon which raised £220 for Basildon Hospital Polly Parrot Appeal.
At this year’s HSJ Awards in November the events team worked with NHS Charities Together, an umbrella organisation representing the charitable arms of NHS Trusts. On the night nearly £3000 was raised which was then matched by Wilmington Healthcare.
Mercia Group had a busy charitable year supporting national and local charities. They raised £170 for Alzheimer’s Society, £115 for Macmillan through a coffee morning and provided 9 food hampers for Leicester South Foodbank.
SWAT in Plymouth have been equally as benevolent. They kept local streams clean, collected food, clothing and toiletries for various local charities, as well as participating in national events such as Children in Need and Red Nose Day.
Axco Insurance Information Services is a founding member of the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation UK. Axco raises funds for the Foundation by promoting, attending and donating at events throughout the year. They also participate in the annual Week of Giving each October. Last year colleagues at Axco committed over 70 hours of volunteering, donating and helping sort clothes for homeless charities, mapping aid routes to remote regions around the world affected by poverty and supporting art projects for children and young people facing emotional difficulties.
Chris Morris, Head of Corporate Projects at Wilmington gives us an update: “It is clear from discussions with various people throughout the business a significant amount of ‘Giving Back’ is already happening. In 2019 we’ll be bringing together passionate people throughout the business to enable a network to share what is happening and identify ways in which Wilmington can contribute more going forwards for the benefit of others.”
Whether it’s creating a better environment, helping disadvantaged people, or raising funds for leading charities, Wilmington colleagues will continue to do good work.
