Volunteers’ Week is an annual campaign recognising the incredible contribution volunteers make to communities, charities, clubs and organisations across the country
This year, we wanted to shine a light on just a few of the colleagues across Astutis who give their time outside of work to support causes close to their hearts.
Their volunteering takes many different forms, from sustainability initiatives and community sport to theatre production and supporting older people, but they all share one thing in common: a commitment to giving back.
Senior Graphic Designer Hazel Guppy has volunteered with a local amateur dramatics group for the past four years, serving as Committee Secretary and taking on multiple production team responsibilities.
Hazel is currently directing the group’s latest production, Shrek The Musical - helping create opportunities for creativity, confidence and community participation.
Kathryn Jenkins, PISEP Carbon Literacy Facilitator at Astutis, has been running her local Repair Café in Cathays for around six years.
Held on the first Saturday of every month, the café brings people together to repair items instead of throwing them away - helping reduce waste, share practical skills and build stronger local connections.
Kathryn explains:
“Repair Café Wales now has over 130 cafés in the UK. If you haven’t already, why not pop along to your local café - a warm welcome awaits.”
Ruth Williams, Brand Content & Creative Director at Wilmington, volunteers in two very different but equally rewarding roles.
Through Age Cymru, Ruth supports older people with challenges ranging from navigating utility providers to dealing with local councils. She also volunteers as a qualified run leader for a community running group with members ranging from 16 to 80 years old.
Reflecting on her volunteering, Ruth shared:
“I’m lucky enough to give my time in two very different but equally rewarding ways.”
Marketing Assistant Cole Vays volunteers at his local cricket club in several different capacities.
Alongside serving on the committee, Cole helps manage the club’s social media channels and coaches junior teams, helping young players develop both confidence and skills through sport.
Cole said:
“Alongside my work at Astutis, I’m lucky enough to be able to volunteer my time at my local cricket club.”
Volunteering strengthens communities, supports wellbeing, and creates opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds.
We’re incredibly proud of the colleagues across Astutis who dedicate their time, passion and expertise to helping others.
Thank you to everyone making a difference in their communities this Volunteers’ Week.
