Wilmington plc has today announced the launch of a Digital Accessibility Campaign: the eight-week virtual programme is designed to raise awareness around the diversity of disabilities across the entire Wilmington group of businesses. It aims to highlight the importance of embedding a culture of universal design and inclusive approaches for all current and future products, content, services and communications across the organisation.
The Digital Accessibility Campaign is the catalyst to start to change the conversation and begin Wilmington’s journey to becoming a truly accessible and inclusive organisation.
At the core of the campaign, there are interactive training and awareness sessions with leading subject matter experts and fireside chats with industry thought leaders. Alongside this are carefully curated and created resources and activities that help build the employee experience and embed key learning points across the lifecycle of the campaign.
The series of internal training and awareness sessions will be led by Susi Miller, Director and eLearning Accessibility Expert from eLaHub and George Rhodes, Director and Accessibility Consultant from All Able.
There are six ‘fireside chats’ confirmed with prominent accessibility and digital inclusion industry thought leaders:
- Steve Hill, Commercial Director, Auticon
- Michael Vermeersch, Associate Product Marketing Manager, Microsoft
- Christopher Patnoe, Head of Accessibility and Digital Inclusion, Google
- Chris Holloway, Accessibility Technology Manager, PwC
- Esi Hardy, Managing Director, Celebrating Disability
- Gigi Etienne, Accessibility Strategist, what3words
Digital Accessibility is about making our products, services and digital communications accessible and inclusive to the widest possible audience. This means they are easy to search for, find, interact with and understand, regardless of whether someone has a permanent or temporary disability or impairment. This is a strategic focus for Wilmington, to ensure that we all conduct the right business in the right way. No one should ever have to feel excluded from engaging with us or using our products or services, and so we have launched a fantastic eight week Digital Accessibility Campaign programme for all our staff to engage with. We are also delighted to welcome six highly acclaimed accessibility and inclusion experts from the wider industry to come and talk to us, and impart their knowledge and share best practice.
